The Hameln train station is a bit apart from the town centre, so either you take a taxi or make a brisk walk to the Old Town. It is do-able but a bit inconvenient. If you come by car, the most central location would be the parking garage near the New Town Hall (Rathausplatz - Parkhaus) close to the Old Town.

Tram service from Hannover

If you are approaching Hameln from Hannover, it is worth taking the tram service that operates from Hannover train station. It is the S5 line which takes approximately 40 minutes and costs around 8 Euros one way. This gives you an opportunity to see the landscape change as you approach Hameln.

Hamlen can easily be reched by car via Autobahn 2 (Hannover-Dortmund). Coming from the east just take exit "Rehren", drive southward to Hessisch Oldendorf and take federal road 83 to Hameln. Coming from the west take exit "Bad Eilsen" and take federal road 83 to Hameln.

I was here by train and with a car. The train from Hannover takes about one hour, maybe less, I can't remember, it was so long time ago.
