Old Town, Hannover
some of the few old buildings (taken by night) that did survive more or less the WWII or have been reconstructed after it. Hannover was very much destroyed, as you can see in the models of the town shown in the new town hall
I put those photos under old town although it is not really in the little part called officially oldtown of Hannover. But these are the older buildings of the city still existing.
Favorite thing: The Leineschloß, today the parliament building for Niedersachsen government, dates back to the 12th century. Originally it was a Franciscan convent which was dissolved in 1553. When the Duke of Calenberg took residence in Hannover in 1636 parts of the building were redecorated. In the 19th century after Hannover hat become a kingdom, the whole Leineschlo§ burned out almost completely, only the portico remained. When ist was rebuilt, the modern assembly hall was added.
