The salt and Hanse town Lueneburg, 1000 years old, offers for those interested in culture and history a variety of events and sights such as the town hall, the Luene monastery, the romantic waterfront, the German Salt Museum and the more than 500 year-old Kronen-Brauhaus zu Lueneburg with brewery museum. In the brewery museum with an exhibition of drinking vessels, there are also unique exhibits of the German beer brewing culture on display. The traditional brewery Zur Krone is the parent company of the Lueneburg Kronen-Brauerei dating from 1485. It is widely known as the origin of the art of beer brewing in Lueneburg and is the ideal setting for the consumption of good draught beers and meals typical for the region.

    Heinrich Boell House

Boell was born in Cologne. His father was a cabinetmaker and sculptor, whose ancestors had fled from England to escape the persecution of Roman Catholics. Boell started to write poetry and short stories in his youth. He was one of the few boys in his school who did not join the Hitler Youth movement. After graduating from high school in 1937, he was drafted into the compulsory work program. Boell served six years as a private and a corporal in the army on both the Soviet and Western fronts. He was wounded four times, and at the end of the war he was interned in a prisoner-of-war camp in France.

    Gothic church

This is St. Nikolai or Nikolaikirche, a protestant church. It was one of the three smallest Gothic architecture churches built in Lüneburg. Construction on this Gothic church began in 1407 and completed in 1440.

there are houses of different architecture styles; in the bottom Schuetting (the black house) may be seen - it was built in the middle of 16th century as a brewery and nowadays it houses Industrie- und Handelskammer (Chamber of Industry and Commerce)

Houses along the river. Take a walk. The city is not that big and there is so much to see near the center.
