Heide Park in Soltau in Lower Saxony is the largest theme park in Germany, but that's not the only record it holds. Its freefall tower “Scream” is the tallest of his kind (103 meters, 427 feet). “Desert Race” is the first launched coaster to be set up in Germany. The focus is, like in most leisure parks, family entertainment and so there's a lot of...more

Munster, town of the most important garrison of the German Federal Armed Forces, has many faces. The first historical reference to Munster dates back to 1303. With only one church, a few farms and craftsmen and workshops, there were less than 500 inhabitants living in this heathland-village in 1890. This changed after the establishment of a military training camp, which has helped Munster to develop into a thriving modern community,...more
Altes Kaufhaus is located on the north-east corner of the harber on river Ilmenau next the Old Crane and the Lueneburger Muehle mill. There the salted herringswere stored. The building was a victum of an arson(1960) and only its Baroque facade, built in 1748, remained untouched.more
Unfortunately I did not know that it was possible to go on the top of the tower to have a bird-eye-view of Lueneburg.. so, I am really sorry that I missed it... and this is on my to-do-list for the next time I go to Lueneburg (which is not planned for this century...)I see that there are other interesting events there - "Full Moon Night",...more

Fantastic yet modest & cosy steakhouse in the very lovely & small town of Bispingen (an about 44 mns drive from Lueneburg). Waitress/or owner was amazingly friendly, attentive, awesomely kind towards children. Had a great meal called "lady steak" with great & crispy frites. On their wonderful menu they do offer certain "kids' meals" with certain,...more
I really liked the atmosphere in the cellar here. First thing you have to do is to climb down the narrow stairs into the vault. Down there you sit on large benches and on long wooden tables... a bit like in the middle age. Upstairs it's more like a big pub. We had an Italian buffet here.....the best of it was probably the "no calories included"...more

Beruhigend! Come as you are!more

I went to Lueneburg with train from Braunschweig. We travelled with Niedersachsenticket so we did not used IC and changed the trains on Uelzen (i.e. with Deutsche Bahn till Uelzen and from there with Metronom till Lueneburg). If you travel there in the same way do not miss the opportunity to look at train station in Uelczen desinged by Hundertwasser.
Need drugs? Look for the word Apotheke when you are in town. This one still has the original entry pillars welcoming you.
Empfehlenswert ist das tragen von Socken! Direkt auf die Haut aufgetragene halten im Zweifelsfall länger!
