Altesland is an area south west of Hamburg that runs along the Elbe River and contains the towns of Jork, Stade, and Buxtehude, which is known for its apples and other fruit. Its a lovely area for vacationers who just want to get away from it all. Here in the heart of Altesland is Matthies Obsthof. Experience Lower Saxony of its delicious side - each region has its specialities. At the shore, people use many ingredients of the North Sea, in the Lüneburg heath it is gathered from sandy grounds and meadows, in the river regions from fertile acres and juicy meadows, and in the Harz game, clear lakes and brooks inspire the cooking of the native hosts. Breweries open their gates daily and show the visitors how to create delicious beer out of raw ingredients. Even travel routes have been named after some specialities!
