About 15 km south of Sulingen is the "Kuppendorfer Heide". Its a pretty nice spot to stroll around for an hour or two through the heath land. Its especially nice in August when its blooming everything is looking a bit pinkish.

Be careful to the heath and stick to the tracks. First of all not do damage the plants and second there are very rare but poisonous snakes (although you must be very lucky to see one).

On the small hill to the west is a topographic point called Franzosenstein (French stone). This place goes back to the time during the occupation of Napoleon’s army at the beginning of the 19th century.

There is a kind of a signposted nature trail starting at the car parking place “Heideparkplatz”. It gives information about the nearby moor, animal and plants. There is also an observation platform. Unfortunately its only explained in German language.
