    Seal at Wilhelmshaven Aquarium

The Aquarium in Wilhelmshaven is home to many aquatic animals such as penguins, seals, sharks, other fish, crabs and spiders among others. It is found on the end of the promenade near the beach and is worth a look.

    The Maritime Meile

You can walk to the Sudstrand (South Beach) of Wilhelmshaven via a path which follows the harbour side. It's a nice walk with a cone of chips and makes it more worthwhile when you finally arrive at the beach and promenade.
The promenade features a great little aquarium. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The sea is probably not greatly suited to bathing here although people do try. It's very muddy!

    Inside the museum

Oceanis is a museum with high-tech equipments. The motto of the museum is "100m below sea-level" and they could make the visitor believe it.
It's a quiet expensive museum, but it's worth to visit it. And if You are in then try everything.

Go to the oceanis. It is next the harbour. There is a nice simulation. You get the impression of being in a research station 100 m deep on the ground of the sea. We' made' researches there on several subjects in relationsship to the coast and the oceans. But I think, they now want a real high price for that. More informations on: http://www.oceanis.de/

The Gorch Fock is the actuel German sailing ship, where the marines are trained. Until that day, I saw pics of that ship only on TV, when the Gorch Fock left for an new adventure. And on that day, I was on that ship! It was a real great feeling. Unfortunately I couldn't find a place to hide myself there to make a big big travel on the oceans!

This is a - I think the first- german sailing ship, where marines are trained. It sank in ww2 and the Russian got the ship. Some years ago, the Germans got it back and so it was possible to make a little walk there
