A great place for indoor climbing.

Nice routes in all categories, big boulding area. Height: 16 Meters and a glass roof!

Material is good, everything is for rent.

You pay 10 Euro entrance for a whole day of climbing. You can leave in between and come back later.

    Belt rental: 2 Euro

  • Carolus Thermen in Aachen

Is it time for the ultimate relaxing enjoying wellness fun and water experience? Then head to the Carolus Thermen in Aachen.

A wonderful complex of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna areas, steam rooms, massages, sunchairs to relax in, restaurant and and and.

My favorite pool is an outdoor one, with very hot water and a strong current (every 15 min or so) and pushes you around the pool :-)

There is a realllly hot pool and right beside it a realllly cold one, jaccuzzyyyyyyy and lots lots more!

No page about Aachen would be complete without a tip about the Alemannia! A football team like no other with fans like no fans in the world!

Even after hours of rain and a bad referee and a lazy team the Alemannia supports don't grow tired of singing and cheering and creating a fantastic atmosphere.

The Tivoli is a small stadium for just about 20,000 spectators which brings you close to the pitch, close together with the other supporters, making it quite easy to have a full house - even on a rainy Friday evening like in early February 2005 when I finally made it to the Tivoli.

I'm sure I'll be back, for dry weather and a victory of TSV Alemannia Aachen 1900 e.V. Europe, watch out for this great team. They were runners up in the German cup in 2004 and as Bremen won both cup and championship, playing internationally in the champions league Aachen have been playing some great UEFA Cup matches over the last months. Better than any one would have expected as they are only playing second league in Germany.

    Yellow-Black Scarf and Shirt.

Prepare with the great homepage, where you can listen to the Aachen supports songs! Ole Alemannia Ole!

The famous Tivoli – that’s where Alemannia Aachen plays football in the second league.
The fans in Aachen are unique as there’s always a great atmosphere as more than 15,000 people usually support Alemannia by singing and clapping their hands.
Tickets cost up from 8 Euro (open air) and are available in town at several ticket offices, for instance:
    Mayersche Buchhandlung
    Kaufhof

Unless you are a pro, this is a spectator activity, and the admission fee for watching is quite steep, depending on where you sit and how long you go to the meet. We were in Aachen at the time of the CHIO. (I still do not know what the letters stand for. If you know please tell me and I will change this). This is a picture of a horse plastic(?) figure, blanketed down, standing in front of a bakery in Aachen. It is one of many (see Custom Tip). The International jumping, riding and driving competitions were in progress and besides visiting several stables in the area and perhaps initiating the purchase of a horse as expensive as a BMW, our companions went to the affair and cheered for the American entries and riders.(They run a large competition back home and compete too, but this was bigger by 10X!)

  • Address: Krefelderstrasse in Soers
  • Directions: There were shuttle buses and Busline 51 from town and expensive parking lots at the grounds. I think the Tourist Ofiice would help.

    Grosse Preis von Aachen

Half a week of horsey activities with the Grosse Preis being the main showjumping event. Apart from that there is a "Nations cup" jumping as well as carriage driving and dressage. These very famous competitions in the equestrian calendar take place every June and you can get exact dates for the relevant year and booking information from the tourist office in Aachen. In 2006, Aachen holds the Equestrian world championships and the city's slogan seen everywhere is "horselengths in front"...
