IT MAY BE A GOOD DECISION TO VISIT THE MUSEUM WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD
I VE BEEN FIRST TIME IN MY LIVE IN THIS MUSEUM ,
IT S VERY INTERESTING WALK UNDER 17 METERS UNDER THE EARTH AND WAS A GREAT DEMONSTRATION OF THE HARD WORK OF THE COALMINERS

There are many parks and small forests in the city and you can go for a nice walks without having to drive to places outside Bochum.

During the summer the tower is open to the public and without having to pay any entrance fee (yes, it's for free!) you may climb up the stairs and enjoy the view from the top.

The Bergbaumuseum (mining museum) is one of the most interesting museums I know. The permanent exhibition provides a lot of interesting information about Bochum's history as a city that was mainly dependent on coal mining.
But the thing that is most astonishing is that you can take an elevator all the way down to a tunnel where you can actually experience how it really feels to work in a coal mine. Great! This museum stretches from 60 meters above the earth to no-idea-how-many meters below the earth's surface. In other words, you can not only wander through 20 exhibition halls containing 12.000 m² of knowledge only waiting to be picked up by you and to be pushed out of your brain again by the next ton of knowledge... erm, where was I? Right, this museum doesn't only have your ordinary showrooms, you can also go up on top of that green tower thingy and down into the visitors pit (yes, this is where they keep those nasty visitors who failed to correctly answer questions about the knowledge they gained in the first showroom *mwahahahaha*).Oh, yeah, and the samples include more than just coal and pick-axes, there's also some arty stuff, culture and of course a collection of minerals! And those tend to be oh so beautiful!!
