From The Netherlands there are each winter many bustours organised to places like Bödefeld, Winterberg, Willingen etc. Other means of transport is the car, which leaves you more freedom in the surroundings. Of course throughout the Sauerland frequent busservices connect all places and the outsideworld.
Bödefeld Off The Beaten Path
Most people go to Winterberg or Willingen and only few know the excistance of Bödefeld. It doesn't make it less attractive and it has still one good skipiston and a few wonderful ski-cross-countrytracks.
In summertime it is these villages that create a wonderful atmosphere of getting out completely. Walking through the green hills and forests and mingling with the villagers. The smallest treasures that surprise you the most and ... everything else is within reach anyway!
Favorite thing: Let's be honest. Sauerland is not the Alps and the facilities might be good, the highth and length of the skipistons are just in shrill contrast to the ones in real mountainareas. Still, Bödefeld (and other Sauerland-villages like Willingen, Medebach and the best: Winterberg) offer good opportunities to learn skiing. Especially beginners can find here good skischools.
For ski-cross-country the conditions in Sauerland are - if there is enough snow - excellent. Nice tracks run through natural parcs and pictoresk villages.
Fondest memory: After finding a lot of effort for forgiving the way she brooke up ... Katinka
