Much of medieval Bonn is long gone, but one part that still stands in the Sterntor, a gate from the 13th century city walls. But even this is a bit faked: it's the original design and bricks alright, but it's been moved. The original location, at the end of Sternstrasse, caused traffic flow problems, and so they moved it, brick by brick, to its present spot at the top of Bottlerplatz, in between two Starbucks.
Its new spot is still very busy, and you'll be lucky to get a good shot off from your camera unless it's 10am Sunday morning, but at least it's just pedestrians.
This gate is one of the citys many gates & dates back to the 13th centuary it was originally located at the end of Sternstrasse but due to traffic problems it was torn down in 1898 & rebuilt in 1900 on the site of Halbrunturns where it is situated today.
You will pass this attractive structure walking two & from the railway station & with the fountain in front of it makes an attractive photo opportunity
If you walk around the center even without a map, you are bound to bump into this attraction. This remnant of old times makes a good picture.
