The home of Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund.

Germany's largest stadium and has a capacity of 81,264.

The stadium was originally built in 1965 and called the Westfalenstadion. It changed name, due to a sponsorship deal, to Signal Iduna Park on 1st December 2005.

I went to the stadium in April 1997 for the UEFA Champions League Semi Final 1st leg, BVB v Manchester United. Unfortunately for me United lost the game 1-0. At the time it was a good tight ground. The steep terraces were a bit of menace with the swells of people causing chaos. Good half-time jig to James Brown

It’s colourful with a good atmosphere and I look forward to seeing it again with its increased capacity.

westfalen stadium is one of the nicer stadiums i have been to.
it´s a stadium where the spectators are quite close to the players and that gives the stadium a good atmosphere.
a must to visit if you are a football fan coming to dortmund.

Like everywhere in Germany there is football, and the local club here is one of the best in Germany.
Also, the 2006 world cup will host some games here, so have tickets with you in case you visit during summer 2006.

    Quite a great Football arena

    Mom at the Westfalenstadium

Not really an 'active' activity, really a passive one. If you can, go and check out a live game in the Westfalenstadium. Been there for a European game, and had a great time (especially as my team went through). I guess the supporters are usually a bit more fanatic; this time they were quite quiet, a bit taken aback...
But that's probably because of the unbelievable strength of my team :-)

Equipment: Bring a loud voice, a yellow and black scarf and some money for beer and Wurste!
