Favorite thing: For architectural buffs, Gehry's office complex on the east side of Mediahafen is well worth a pilgrimage. Warps and curves are his signature, and here he employs them in three different media: glass, brick, and his trademark aluminium.
Favorite thing: A relatively new addition to the Mediahafen district is a shiny new bridge which crosses the harbor. In the middle is a shiny glassy glittery restaurant, where I can imagine that the view upstages the food.
Favorite thing: Actually, I've read that the rubber-flex figures are known locally as Flossies. Well, they've come to Duesseldorf and it looks like they are at work establishing their own colony on the banks of the Rhine!
Fondest memory: Of course with all those modern buildings being constructed in glass I couldn't hep but get a few reflections - the media port is the place for this. This was my favoutite shot, capturing the Gehry buildings and the Tower in a window ;-)
Favorite thing: The Media Port is a pretty smart area of town. Along the bank of the Rhine a little way from the Altstadt, it is the home of a variety of media companies, and also the home of Dusseldorfs TV and communications tower.
The office building, designed by American architect Frank Gehry.
Actually they are three office buildings designed by him. Materials he used as the outer walls are different, thus also differently in red, white and metal-colored.
Three buildings locate beside the river. It's very easy to catch your eyes even you are far away from this riverside. However, I don't like them because I don't think they are suitable for that environment.
