Space Burger, Düsseldorf

Hamburgers are not my favourite dish but this place is a very special one so I just have to mention it here. There aren't many good quality restaurants in the old town of Düsseldorf but this one is an exception.

The quality of meat seems very good. As far as I can tell, it's 100% pure beef. The menu itself is very unique with interesting photos and the description of various burgers.

You need to get a side dish of fries and sauces (mayo or ketchup), although the size of the burger should be sufficient for most.

This is not a typical burger-joint but posh. More young ladies in nice dresses are regular customers than hungry teenagers (they go to Burger King/McDonald's not very far).

The service is also a top class (I've been there 3 times).

Favorite Dish: Dietrich burger with country fries.

This place probably serves the best and definitely serves the most creative burgers in Düsseldorf. They actually serve nothing but lots of burgers in all variations (beef, chicken, fish, veggie). They even dare to put spinach, gorgonzola or cherries and almonds on their burgers here. It takes ages to go through the menu and find the dish you want.

There are two Space Burgers in town, one in the old town and the original one in Derendorf. Latter one looks like a "Schnellimbiss" really and is really small. The one in the old town is decorated in a lovely trash style, with a great wallpaper mixed with chinese restaurant style and great pictures on the walls. It's nice to sit here for ages. Service can be a disaster at times though....

You pay approx. 7-10 Euro for a Burger with chips. At Burger King nearby you'd pay 5. I'd always prefer the nice atmosphere of Space Burger to the BK and pay only a bit more for a creative burger!

Favorite Dish: The chicken burger with Corn, Avocado, Nachos etc with chips and aioli. And the Lermit pic on the wall ;)

You won't need Burger Kind and McD ever again coz nobody offers that many burgers (about 40 different ones!) and nobody has burgers with such great taste!

They have fair prices, the restaurant has only 4 or 5 tables, everything quite basic, staff is very friendly.

UPDATE: due to popular demand they've recently opened a new branch of this unique burger place. it's located right in the old town, in Bolker Straße. Look is more fancy than the old one, you get cocktails as well, and the burgers taste them. Hmm, I think I still prefer the old one, its cooler and more of a "cult" ;-)

Favorite Dish: El pollo diabolo menu- a hot, spicy chicken burger with chips and a coke!!!!!!
