Typical old bath
The M?nsterbad is build in 1902 originally.
It has been renovated recently and it is looking like good old days. It is a special feeling.
There is only one pool inside and a sole outside. Do not expect special issue, just than the real feeling of water.
Equipment: Indoor Pool with 30?
Outside thermals sole 32?
Opening hours Mo - Fr 07am - 9 pm
Sa 7 am - 4pm
Rhein Fire, one of the most successfull american football teams of NFL Europe, is placed in D?sseldorf.
The homegames are full of entertainment, mostly starting 3:30pm starting with pregame parties. Games starting at 7pm.
Mostly, Fire does have a huge firework show inside the dome. For Firework, the retractable roof is closed.
Very spectacular, the sport, the show etc.
BTW: Go Galaxy (Frankfurt)
My favourite swimming pool in D?sseldorf. Huge area for kids and non-swimmers so if you want to do some "proper" swimming the big pool is the place to be.
And why it is so special: the airport is very close to this pool so while you are swimming you can watch planes take off (or land) and you can dream about the far-away places they go to.
UPDATE: They also have an indoor pool which is great in the winter. Almost every night they have aqua fitness classes. Always quite busy for proper swimming but ok.
Equipment: The water is great but try to avoid using the bathrooms and changing rooms...Related to:

Climbing at the Vertical Park
Another climbing opportunity in Düsseldorf! Quite low, just 9 m from floor to ceiling. Most routes are in the categories 5 to 7, lots of great and tough overhangs, huge boulder area.
Nice staff, good shower facilities, fair prices (climbing 6 Euro, belt rental 2 Euro).
Open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. during the week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.Related to:

A place for fitnessing, indoor climbing, beach soccer and beach volleyball. Always busy, in an old industrial hall. I love the fitness classes and go climbing every now and then but I don't like the walls there too much.
Beach fields are always busy and it gives you a bit of holiday feeling when you watch the guys&girls in the sand while you're exercising.
Equipment: All equipment for rent, but everything could be better.Related to:

My favorite indoor climbing hall in Düsseldorf! They have nothing but climbing walls, a lot of routes of all kinds of difficulty, challenging and fun!
Very friendly staff.
Tuesdays and Thursdays they have open climbing meaning you can come on your own and they guarantee you a partner. Great to meet people as well. You can find me there on many Thursdays these days...
Equipment: Rental equipment is of great quality and rates are fair. The ropes are quite dirty, you wouldn't want to eat something with your fingers afterwards.
Nice little changing room, clean, with lockers.Related to:

Maybe it's not really a sport, if you just watch it... But it IS a great day out on a sunny summer Sunday in Düsseldorf.
There are all kinds of people going, with big hats and without, with all kinds of dogs and with the whole family.
You have to bet on a horse in each race - otherwise it gets really boring, you need a horse to cheer for, to get excited about. And betting starts at 1.50 and 2 euro, depending on bet. i noticed that people who go to the races for the first time have no idea how to bet - but they always win in their first race... so if you ever come to our races, let me help you with the betting - I only charge 50% of your winnings ;-)
Equipment: a buget - how much are you willing to lose? (mine is usually 10 euro)Related to:

Diving in Düsseldorf ;-)
Okay, I must admit that Düsseldorf is not really close to the Sea. In fact you need about three hours to drive to the Dutch North Sea. But there are also opportunities to learn diving (I think if you already dive it's not worth to go on with reading this tip). Of course it's not as attractive as learning in the (warm) Sea but in fact it has it's own charme.
Equipment: The first four lessons are given in a swimming pool (don't laugh!). Before you go there every time you've a theoretical lesson. And the final test is in a lake close to Düsseldorf (I made it in the middle of December when it was - 2 °C, quite an interesting experience ;-) on a weekend. You have to dive two times every day for at least 20 minutes.
Our teachers were great and had a lot of humour and patience.Related to:

Crosscountry Skiing at the Rine!
The crosscountry skiing world cup took place here in Düsseldorf on 26/27 October 2002!!! Snow was provided from an indoor skiing place nearby and I was there watching Norwegian skiers in a place that's almost as flat as the Netherlands!
Equipment: A camera :-) I took sooo many pictures here. It was unbelieveable. Hopefully there will be an event like this here again. More pictures are in a travelogue on this page!
A fun sport! Boule players are all very friendly and the let you join them even if you are a beginner! I started a few weeks ago and love it!
Equipment: 3 silver balls and some wine to produce a "French atmosphere"
Duesseldorf Sports Teams
The three most well-known sports teams in Duesseldorf are the DEG (Icehockey), Fortuna Duesseldorf (Soccer) and Rhinefire (American Football). Fortuna's and Rhinefire's matches take place in the Rheinstadion near the trade fair buildings (Messe) while the DEG plays in the Eisstadion in Brehmstrasse.
castle run in Benrath
The path around the long pond behind the castle-main-wing is 1000 m and perfect for jogging or walking.
At school we took this route even for official 1000m runs.Related to:
