Benrath Palace/Schloss Benrath, Düsseldorf

The palace of Benrath in the South of Düsseldorf is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! A huge lake in front of it with a fountain, beautiful Baroque buildings as you can see in the picture and a huge park on the back with baroque-style footpaths, hidden huts and lots of spaces for sunbathing.

There is a cafe on the premises and the shopping area of Benrath close by to get some drinks and ice cream - a place to spend lazy summer days in.

... by car from my house I can reach one of the most well maintained palaces in this region. The castle and its parks cover an area of more than 610.000 square meters. It was built in the 18th century.
The gardens are beautifully arranged and there is still the small vegetable garden "Potager" from where the cooks of the palace used to get their herbs and fresh vegetables before.

Strolling around those gardens for hours would be nice if accompanied by somebody you care ...

This palace in Düsseldorf-Benrath was built in 1755. If you like palaces this is the place for you in Düsseldorf. There's a huge garden and forest and a little lake full of ducks next to it. It's very beautiful... if only the hadn't painted the building pink ;-)

I have only been to the beautifully old fashioned palace cafe and to the park. We were here on a very stormy day so as soon as we went into the forest we heard that it was closed because it's too dangerous so we had to return to our car. A wise decision! Many people were killed by trees hitting their cars etc that day!

Schloss Benrath lies on the outskirts of Duesseldorf in Benrath. I have never been inside yet to see any of the three museums, but only ever went for walks in the castle grounds. There is a lake in front of the castle and a big park on the back of it where you can go for lovely walks either around the long canal-shaped lake or in the little square forest beside it.

Schloss Benrath should be a "Maison de Plaisance", a house of happiness as it was built in 1755 as a hunt- and lustcastle. The City Düsseldorf requested castle and park Benrath to become World Heritage Site of the UNESCO. 1996 the park and the whole castle-area got under monumental protection.

You can reach the castle with the tram 701, stop Schloss Benrath or train S6, RE1, RE5 to station Benrath, 5 minutes walking

Hell, who said that this castle should be painted in pink....

For me this wasn´t the right color really....as I don´t like it. I liked the lake in front of it though and the huge park behind it....

Schloss Benrath is a castle local to Dusseldorf. Baroque style architecture and decorating. There is a guided tour which is in German. The gardens are beautiful.
