You are only allowed to climb if you registered first at the office of the "Alpenverein" on the grounds of the Landschaftspark. I don't know about it but I guess you have to bring your own climbing gear. Leave a Comment

Climbing is big business in Duisburg now that they have the Landschaftspark Nord to practice in. Still, it looks a bit fun to see the Deutscher Alpen Verein, i.e. Alpine Association, represented on the site when we're talking the river plains of the Ruhr and Rhine rather than anything vaguely Alpine :))) But here they are and they are so big that they have a club house for parties and meetings and where you can even stay the night as a climber. Safety is of importance though and there are signs everywhere that you should bear in mind that the park is an old industrial site left on its own, which means that the structures are exposed to weather and other effects and perhaps not the same from one month to another. You are also never allowed to climb without proper safety lines and clips. Leave a Comment
