    Even if you are with your sailboat, paddle boat or motoryacht on one of Duisburg's water ways don't drink alcohol while you are responsible for your boat.

    Police have fast patrol boats with which they come alongside your vessel and check out any failures be it overweight on freighters, throwing garbade into the river or harbor, checking the captains on alcohol etc.

    I know I've said it before, when the DB ticket machines have been causing bother. Well, here it is the local public transport machines! I do not know what it is with German ticket machines since this country is capable of spitting out the most amazing industrial features, yet fail to come up with a decent solution to non car drivers :))) Stations in the centre does not necessarily have any staffed ticket booths and the machines do not seem to take foreign credit cards and they do not all accept notes, just coins. Make your way to the other station entrance if you find that this is the case and you might be lucky...
