If your train has a steam engine beware that light coloured clothes may have black spots at the end of the journey. Anyway, it's good fun and not expensive.

It's more than just an old building. It has been well looked after and contains a shop which has all the goodies for the railway buffs. In the shop you also buy the tickets for the ride itself. Then there is a café with yummy cakes and tea and coffee. Or else they sold ice cream and outside they sold sausages from the grill.

The Märkische Museum Railway was opened on the 1969 closed down line between Plettenberg and Herscheid.
The railway runs on specific dates from spring to autumn and also has popular joy rides for St. Nicolaus in the beginning of December.
When we were there the steam engine was running too, but sometimes only the diesel engine runs. The track is not very long. It takes about 15 minutes one way and there is a stop on the way.

If you have a small sport plane then you may fly in. Just outside Hüinghausen towards Herscheid off the main road is the grassy airport. I was just getting back into the car after taking a picture and a little plane was just overhead in order to land.
