The Dechenhoehle in Iserlohn is a marvelous cave. It was discovered 1968 during construction work at the railway close to it. You will find stalagtites everywhere on the ceiling and also lots of stalgmites. The lighting is very good, too, so that the stalagtites and stalagmites look faszinating - there's one formation which looks like a waterfall because of the blue light.
You can only visit the cave with a guided tour that takes about 40-50 minutes. I'm not sure if you can get a tour in another language than German. The tour that we have was very suitable for kids, they were allowed to try out the echo and some explanations were especially for them.
Close to the cave is a museum with some stones and findings from the cave, but it is really little. And of course you'll find a restaurant next to the cave!
There are also special events in this cave, for example concerts in the cave. For kids, there are adventure tours through the cave, and in the weeks before Christmas, you can visit the cave at candlelight. That must be great!
Admission:
4,20 Euro for adults
3,00/ 3,50 Euro for children/students
No admission for the museum.
