    Apparently, I found out that there is a water wonderland in Kalkar (again research after visit...sigh!). The water wonderland was initially a nuclear reactor, which never went on stream. A Dutch businessman, Hennie van der Most, bought over the place and made it into a wonderland instead. Interesting!

    At the Konditorei Nederkorn on the market square (Markt #11). Something I'd never realized before: food photography takes some practice. As you can see I'd already eaten (a small) part of the seductive pastry before remembering to take a picture!

Kalkar Off The Beaten Path

    The city moat is preserved and reconstructed based on the course of the original city walls. There is also a historic mill at the former Hanselaer Tor gate and Taubenturm (Pigeon Tower) at the former Kesseltor gate, which was once a prison. (I missed all these!! aargghh!!)
