Luedenscheid features a yearly Christmas market which is actually rather small but nice. It has its Gluehwein (mulled wine) stall and also Bratwurst stalls which I love.
On the Rathausplatz you will find the ice rink. You can rent skates if you haven't got your own.
Reibekuchen or also called Reibeplaetzchen are made of raw grated potatoes and are a local dish in this area. It's nice to eat with Apfelmus (applemash). This is something I can recommend to the vegetarians.
Every 2 years there is a light festival which shows some brilliant local and international light installations. Unfortunately, the budget was rather tight this year but still there was a high quality to be seen.
Every year in the first half of September there is a city festival for a weekend. There is a lot of beer drinking going on as well as music performances. Also, there is a whole variety of local and foreign food stalls.
The city markets itself to be open for all and without any aggression against any foreigners – this is also how I experienced the city as it says on a sign displayed right in the cities shopping heart.
This is the local beer made in Brauhaus Schillerbad. I think you cannot get it anywhere else beside the own brewery restaurant in the city centre.
I got this one from my good VT friend HORSCHECK in one of my last visits to Germany
On Saturday morning there is a fruit and vegetable etc. market in the center of Luedenscheid. They actually sell also a few non-food things. It is located in front of the Town Hall (Rathaus).
During the summer it is tradition to have grill outside. Different kinds of meat available and the price are usually very cheap. Together with local beer, it is really going well.
