    Shiva Lounge: Exotic restaurant/lounge

by elbe Updated Jan 19, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In an old framework house in the middle of the oldtown just opened this lounge. A China restaurant has been in the house before and the new owners kept as much as possible in the exotic Asian style. With a few changes they made a stylish place out of it. The fingerfood is wonderful, the atmosphere very nice and you also have the possiblitiy to eat there from 6 p.m. on every day except Monday (and the card looks good).

Das Café: Cosy café in the middle of Mönchengladbach

    Das Caf inside

Not really a place for nightlife but also a place where you can go to in the evening is Das Café. It's, like you probably already guessed, a nice café where you can find people aged 15 to 35.
I really love the milk coffee and the baguettes are wonderful. You can also choose other snacks or dishes, but remember that it's a café, so the food may not be as good as in a restaurant.

    Abbacab: Pub with Indie-music

by elbe Written Feb 28, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pub in the middle of the oldtown. If you like rock, indie and music like that, this is your place!

Dress Code: You can be dressed how you feel. But probably you don't feel very comfortable when you're overdressed. Jeans and sneakers are okay.

    Die Nacht: Small, hidden House-Club

by elbe Updated Feb 10, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Small club-lounge, hidden in an old, shabby house right in the middle of the Oldtown vis-á-vis to the small tower there. Only a "dicso-ball" and grave-candles show you Die Nacht.
Good house-music, young people (ca. 20 to 30 years old). Don't go there before 1 a.m.

Dress Code: Not too casual, but you if you come in casual clothes the bouncer wouldn't send you home.

    Moshi Bar: Stylish bar

by elbe Updated Feb 7, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Moshi Bar

Minimalistic Asian touched styled bar in the center of Mönchengladbach: the Moshi Bar. People come in this small bar to see and be seen - and beside this to drink the good cocktails and eat the great food. A nice place to start the evening or even for dinner. I like the sushis and the noodles (everything here is with a slight Asian touch of course). On Sunday morning you can create you individual breakfast.

Dress Code: Wear what you like but remember that stylish people go here!
    open :
    Mo to Thurday 18 to 1 o'clock
    Fr 18 to 4 o'clock
    Sa 11 to 4 o'clock
    So 11 to 1 o'clock

Mezcalito: Student Mexican bar with great Margarita

by elbe Updated Feb 4, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Mezcalito

Located close to the Oldtown the Mezcalito offers the best Strawberry-Margarita in MG (or even in Germany, I've been in many German cities but never drank Strawberry-Margarita like this)!! Nice Mexican styled bar. Many students go there to meet friends. So there are a lot of younger people age 16 to 30, the average is around 23.
On Wednesday, 21.00, is student party, you have to pay an entrance fee (I think 2,50 €). Other days are Friday and Saturday.

    Dress Code: Everything is possible.
