The Caffee/Restaurant is on two levels.
Downstares is a chocolade/seweets shop with old fashioned Tea rooms included, and nice big caffee/restaurant upstares.
Caffee Kaulard is right in the middle of town, pass the Church, right on the town market.
Favorite Dish: We have been visiting this place for few years now, everytime when we come to Monshcau.
I love their cakes & teas, but also the light lunch they serve.
Last time we had coule of their German pllaters followed by Schaher torte.
Their choices of Cakes & Torte are exelent.
Worth comming and cheking it out.
In the "wonderful Month of May all Germans go hungering for the largest fattest most succulent white asparagus. Good restaurants put out special spargel-menus.This is not confined to Monschau. It is everywhere!. The classic serving is spargel with Hollandaise sauce and salzkartoffeln (boiled small potatoes). If this is not enough calories youcan have included side dishes of wurst, schnitzel or other carnivore fare.
Favorite Dish: We had this at a cafe next door to the Roten Haus restaurant. It was advertised on a blackboard on the wall of the place (see picture)
The month of May is when strawberries are in season. Served almost anywhere and advertised on signs and in windows. As long as you are not allergic , enjoy!. This is so in most European counreiws during this month. We had a time share and bought them in the supermarket too, only we did not use whipped cream from the can but found creme fraiche in the dairy section. This is a fine substitute.
I was only in Monschau for a couple of hours one morning, and it was too early for the restaurant, however this place was highly recommended by my friend and his wife who dined there during their visit. It is located on the main road through Monschau, and comes with a view of the brook...
Well prepared and pleasantly served local cooking with fish and local specialties
Favorite Dish: I cannot really evaluate German cooking. This was as good as we had.
Favorite Dish: Just order it at one of the many restaurants in town and let yourself be surprised by a soup that is unique to this place.
