The „Monschauer Dütchen“ is a biscuit/sponge cake that is being formed like an ice-cream wafer. It’s usually filled with cream or ice cream. We were told that you can get this in most bakeries in Monschau. We at it in a restaurant, it was filled with cream and came with some additional vanilla ice cream and strawberries.
Another specialty is the the “Monschauer Vennbrocken”, which is a marzipan chocolate.
many communities have a community band. Monschau had a band playing in the market area when I visited. They played "stereotyped" music -- the kind my younger German friends do not necessarily want he world to think of as "German music."
But they added to the character of the town on that day.
