Oberhausen Things to Do

    OBERHAUSEN:
    Gasometer and CentrO
The Gasometer (gasworks) has been turned into an exhibition hall with changing exhibitions. It's apparently the biggest exhibition hall in Europe.

The CentrO (Neue Mitte) is a big shopping mall where you can feel like being in the United States if you like. There you find hundreds of shops, restaurants, cinemas, an amusement park and a musical theatre. You name it...

Perfect for the end of your shopping trip. Sit down inside this busy foodcourt and get your food from anywhere you want.

Chose from Chinese, Dutch, "Swiss", McDonalds, Pizza, Bavarian, German etc etc

Favorite Dish: I had chinese stuff here once and it was awful. This time I only had Dutch chips with peanut sauce and they were tasty!

The "An Crannog" is a huge Irish pub which is actually quite beautiful - if it was old and in Ireland. Here it looks so fake ... it's unbelieveable!

Favorite Dish: The Irish brown bread that is served with original little packs of Irish butter. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.... it's very tasty!
The burger I had afterwards was tasty as well but I actually just wanted the bread ;)

    Irish bread ... yummy!

CentrO is a huge mall in Oberhausen. There are about 200 shops and restaurants. Most of the shops are clothing stores. Here and there you will find other stores (book store, The Body Shop, shoe stores, etc).

When you are going to this mall, notice this thing: all the women are in the stores and the men are sitting on a bench waitint for their spous to return.... So hilarious!! :)

In the mall it is not allowed to smoke.
There are 10 parking spaces. Enough for you to come and enjoy the mall.

    The opening hours are:

    Monday to Wednesday 10am - 8pm
    Thursday 10am - 9pm
    Friday - Saturday 10am - 8pm

Lots of great stuff to buy for your home here. Lots of stuff by "Koziol" - the German cheaper version of Alessi.

What to buy: The whole shop ;)

What to pay: Well if you buy the whole shop you better take your credit card ;)

Great clothes for men and women, reasonable prices.

What to buy: Trousers, skirts, shirts, whatever!

What to pay: Less than in the average shop but it depends on what you buy. Trousers were cheap!
