Adam and Eve House

Adam and Eve House, Paderborn

Kathrin_E Says:  World War II bombs spared one single block of old Paderborn, North of the Dom behind the Pader springs, in Hathumarstraße and Auf den Dielen. This is the only street in town where you can still see a row of half-timbered houses. The prettiest house of them all ist the...

Dom - The Chapel for the Victims of World War II, Paderborn

Kathrin_E Says:  The little chapel at the far end of the cloister on the way to the three hares window is dedicated to the victims of World War II. It is decorated with mosaics all over. Despite its bright colours it is easily overlooked, as it is rather dark and hidden behind a gate.Agnes...

Kaiserpfalz – the Imperial Palace

Kaiserpfalz – the Imperial Palace, Paderborn

Kathrin_E Says:  The Kaiserpfalz behind the cathedral is a reconstruction. In 1964 archeologists found the foundation of Charlemagne's palace, the very same place where king and pope had negotiated the coronation in 799. Until 1977 the archeologists also unearthed the much better preserved...

Rathaus - City Hall

Rathaus - City Hall, Paderborn

At a convention in Münster on historical church vestments last year I learned about the fashion problems of catholic priests. The colours and general shape of the vestments is prescribed but still there are details in cut and shape, material, images, symbols and ornamentation to decide upon. This fashion store in Grube caters for all those needs. Most probably you are not a potential client, but a look into the shop windows adds to feeling the flair of catholic Paderborn.

The shop next door sells church silver, candles, crosses, figures of saints and anything a catholic church might need.

What to buy: Church vestments and all other items a catholic church needs.

What to pay: I cannot tell, for I am obviously not a client of this shop.

There are plenty of those lovely, little lakes in Paderborn, surrounded by woods and parks providing with sport activities. The lake where at visitors can rent a wooden, simple-small boat, is located right beside the ropes/climbing course. Beautiful to paddle on a lake's shallow water circled by pure green. Beautiful also it has less a sporting spirit but romantic and refreshing.
