Phil Jost Shop: Bacharach Souveniers - Phil Jost
This was a great shop to visit. My family visited when we lived in Germany over 30 years ago and we went back last month. The store owners were very friendly and all our items were shipped safely back to the USA. The same pewter items that they supplied years ago were available and their stein collection was great.
The welcoming of the owners was something that makes customers travel back decades later. A wonderful family store that has something for everyone.
What to buy: Steins, Pewter, Hummels, Souveniers, Glasses and much more.
What to pay: 1-100 Euro
Nahkauf / Schlecker: Yes, there are markets in Bacharach!
I post this tip to correct a rather eye-popping error in some guidebooks, which claim there are no food markets in Bacharach and that you have to go to Oberwesel if you want to put together a picnic. In truth, Bacharach has not one but two markets -- Nahkauf and Schlecker. They are open Monday-Friday 8:30AM - 6:30PM and Saturday 8:30AM - 2PM.

Phil Jost Co.: A longtime Bacharach Institutoin
A terrific but small store. Operated for more than 30 years by Herr Jost and his wife. My partner bought a beer stein back in 1974. We returned again in 2005 to purchase a pewter water jug. Herr and Frau Jost are wonderful and friendly people. A terrific couple that represent the best of small business along the Rhein.
What to buy: Steins, pewter, and figurines
What to pay: 10 - 100 dollars US
