Take a cruise to or from Cochem

ships on the river Mosel / Moselle

Cochem will always be a port of call on any cruise from Bernkastel-Kues or from Koblenz, and many cruises will also start from Cochem every day - for prices and timetables, just see my link below ! The pier for the cruiseships will be in the very centre of town, next to the beautiful boulevard with plenty of great restaurants and cafes.

On my picture you may see , that the river Mosel / Moselle is also an important way of transportation for huge cargo-ships between the river Rhine and Moselle-ports in France.

    Signs to the Castle

Walk this way, only 15 more minutes ; )

May be stretching a bit calling this a transportation tip... However, as you wander around old Cochem you will find signs like the one shown here. If you follow them they will lead you on a walk to the castle.

Warning: It's a steep walk on a warm summer day...

"Zur Burg" = To the Castle

    Flying to Frankfurt (Hahn) Airport

    by sim1 Updated May 20, 2004

Ryanair had a special offer to fly from Stockholm (Skavsta airport at Nyköping, south of Stockholm) to airport Frankfurt (Hahn) for almost next to nothing. Well.... that only took me 5 minutes to think over before I booked the tickets! lol :-)))

Normal prices to fly with Ryanair from Stockholm (Skavsta) to Frankfurt (Hahn) is around 400 SEK for a return ticket + 29 euro for airport taxes. Try to surf on the Ryanair website though as they sometimes have some great deals and your flight might cost almost nothing.

Ryanair calls the airport 'Frankfurt' but it is actually not so close to Frankfurt at all. The airport is at Hahn, which is located east of Frankfurt. But there are special busses that can bring you from the airport to the city and back again in time for your flight. See the Ryanair website for more information.

Ryanair has a lot of flights from and to Frankfurt (Hahn) airport, from all over Europe. At the moment (May 2004) there are 19 destinations where you can fly to from this airport, so maybe there is one in your area as well! :-))

    Is this the bus?

The bus appears to run continuously during the hours the Castle is open (09.00-17.00 ) , mid-March to mid- November. It leaves from the West end of the Markt.
