Behind the Landal Green Parks starts the Hochwald, a forest which is part of the Hunsrück, a low mountain range in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. At the reception of the Bungalow park you can get some nice walks.

Stausee is a man-made lake just outside of Kell am See. You can walk around the lake in about one hour (3 km). On the shores of the lake are a horseriding school, two hotels and a bungalow park. It's a tranquil and relaxing place with several benches, you can feed the ducks, make a small boat trip (boats for hire at the Seehaus) or do some fishing (permit needed).

The Seehaus belongs to the Seehotel which is located in Kell am See. It's a separate building directly on the banks of the lake (Stausee). It offers some nice local dishes. They also have outdoor seating overlooking the lake.
For us, stationed closeby at the Landal Green Parks it was a good alternative for the restaurant in the park and only a 10 minutes nice walk along the lake.
It's also a good place for your afternoon tea/coffee and delicious German cakes.

Fondest memory: I suppose the bungalow park can be a busy place full of yelling and running children (which is not what we like), but it is an oasis of tranquility when you come in low season ouside of the school vacations. We especially liked the tranquility of the lake: walking around the lake and watching the ducks. A place to come back to unwind from the busy life.

Fondest memory: October / early November is the perfect time to see the many beautiful colours of autumn. We liked it a lot. Around the lake there were colourful shrubs and in the forest different kind of trees, all with their specific colours.
