There is a very convinient way to reach the Low-Cost Airport Frankfurt-Hahn (Ryanairs Germany Base) from Ludwigshafen. A few times per day bus shuttles are running from and to Hahn-Airport. One way price of the bus is 16 EUR (since 26th September 2005) and it's arround 140km away from Ludwigshafen City Center. The busses departure at Ludwigshafen HBF Train Station at the bus station outside the train station hall. There is a sign like on the picuture!
In Ludwigshafen is a very well developed public transport system. The local tram and bus provider is member of the Rhein-Neckar Area Transportation Network "VRN" Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar. So yuo can buy one ticket to use trams, busses, trains, S-Bahn to your end destination in the whole coverage network of VRN. In Ludwigshafen city area and Mannheim City Area you have only to pay for the big MA-LU Cityzone. There are 24h Daytickets available and some weekend special tickets. Trams and busses are running normaly from 5-24h. Daytim 10-15 Minutes, evening sundays morning 30 min.
Tickets have to be bought before entering trams and busses at Ticket machines and have to stamp inside at boarding.
Der Autobahn...This is one of my favorite views in Germany. It might not look like much, but it can be breathtaking at certain times of the day and year! This veiw unfolds just as you climb this hill, after the bridge overhead(confusing!). To see this veiw, take A-6 from Kaiserslautern, Germany towards Mannheim, you can't miss it.
Ludwigshafen may be reached from the major European cities within only few hours. Frankfurt International Airport lies only 45 minutes of driving away.
