We’ve eaten here several times and have always come away satisfied. The restaurant is in the middle of the Old Town and it has an old tavern look about it on the inside. The staff has always been friendly and service is fast. This is a nice place that we have brought visitors to eat with us at.
The food has been very good – never disappointed. We’ve tried the traditional German dishes – schnitzel, spätzle – as well as the vegetarian dishes. Again, it has all been very good.
They are open daily from noon until midnight. Highly recommend!
The restaurant is in the middle of the Altstadt (Old Town) so the walk to the restaurant is beautiful and you can stroll the streets and browse the shops afterwards! Click HERE for Googlemap showing you where the restaurant is located.
Augustinerkeller is a local restaurant. You get there all the specialties like Hankaes, Spundenkaes, ...
As far as I know, it is one of the traditional puns in the carnival time.
I liked a lot the interior, which is very old.
We were a little confused here, were not sure if this was a restaurant, bierkeller or weinstube. So when in doubt we ate, had a beer and then a bottle of wine! worked OK for us. Food as usual could not be faulted and the wine was an excellent local Reisling - fruity and very dry. Why is it that German Reisling on sale in the UK is always incredibly sweet, maybe they keep the best at home? Not everone was here to eat, many were just in for a social drink with their pals, a very hospitable place for a night out.
