We visited the restaurant Citrus with a large group of Hubby's coworkers. It was my first visit, although several people said they had been there several times and the food was always very good. The building is unique - an older brick building with a roof that grows grass on it. The interior has a brick barrel vaulted ceiling and a modern look.
Despite being in a large group, the service was friendly and fast. The food was very good and no one was unhappy with their meal. Prices were a bit higher than other restaurants, but the portions were large and everything was fresh. My meal was the California Chicken Salad in a tortilla bowl, which had a wonderful flavor from the dressing to the grilled chicken that topped the salad. Hubby got a hamburger that was huge and came with a large side of fries and coleslaw. Others in our party remarked favorably about the Mango Chicken, the Goat Cheese Salad, and chicken kabobs.
The restaurant is located near the Rhein River in Mainz, so parking can be an issue. However, there is a large underground parking garage across the street from Citrus or a short walk from some of the other parking areas in town.
Would I go again? Yes, and I would recommend this restaurant to others. It was a wonderful evening with some really good food, prompt service, and pleasant atmosphere.
