Very nice flowers, excellent location, good opening times, shame about the staff; The lady who served me spoke very limited English, was very unfriendly and made me regret I had spent my money there. My flowers, after their length was reluctantly and roughly adjusted, were bound together carelessly with a piece of string, worse than if I gathered them myself from a field. I was ashamed to present them as they certainly didn't look the price the cost - about E25. When next in Mainz, will rather bring a bottle of wine. Really sad.
As you might expect from a city that made the publishing of books possible there is a huge choice of book shops to wander around. I spotted four giant stores, including the enormous Gutenberg Buchhandlung pictured that seemed to stretch for an entire block along Grosse Bleiche. There was also another in the Roman Passage shopping arcade that seemed to take up an entire left side of the arcade (on both floors). The city probably rivals Oxford for the number of books on sale per capita.
