St. Goar has two shops that are run by the same people - one specializes in cuckoo clocks and the other beer steins. The shops are very close to each other on opposite sides of the street at the Burg Rheinfels end of St. Goar near the Rathaus.
Both shops have an incredible selection with a large range of prices and are willing to ship anywhere in the world. Well worth going into, even if to just look at the many different samples they have on display.
These shops can be quite crowded when the tour buses are in town, so if you can get there early in the day or off-season, you'll be doing yourself a favor.

There is no problem looking for something to buy as a souvenir or gift in St. Goar!
What to buy: Two things I did not buy in St. Goar: a bier stein. My mum and sis each bought a stein at the Montag store. (It is a store and hotel) I have found better prices elsewhere. There is also a Birkenstock store, prices for an average pair ran about 70 euros. We found a better deal in Dinkelsbuehl, 35 euro.
Mostly, I bought....wine! and the fruity liquors. yum! Buy a few wine glasses made special for Rhine wine too!
What to pay: 12 euros and up for a bottle of wine. You can get smaller souvenir bottles for less.
