You can either climb the stairs to the Lorelei lookoff, a UNESCO World Heritage ot go by car or (local) bus.

The Lorelei statue is next to the restaurant at the Lorelei car parking.

For ages Lorelei was hidden to the Rhine river navigators.

That has changed since a new bronze statue was place at the end mole of the harbour of Sankt Goarshausen.

There's a small car parking at the river from where you can walk about a kilometer to the statue.

This is a beautiful outdoor theater, on the cliffs above St. Goar / St. Goarshausen and the Rhine river. It is one of the most beautiful places you can imagine for a concert. Not only that but it has great acoustics, as well.

Rumor has it, the theater was built for Nazi rallies by Hitler. Ah well, let's forget about that part.

A great place to stop and enjoy the view from the outdoor terrace.

Food is high quality German without any question.

Favorite Dish: Sparkel (and the Lorelei ice cream)

My father stayed in Sankt Goarshausen for a couple of days off during their tour. He and his bandmates really enjoyed this pub, and actually saw the mayor of the town there on several occassions. The mayor bought them at least one round of drinks, in fact.

Favorite Dish: Dad fell for a couple of beers at this pub: Kostritzer Schwarzbier, Maisel's Weisse, Schofferhofer Weizen and Furltenberg Weizen. His favorite was the Schwarzbier, though, because he couldn't find it anywhere else.

When driving around St. Goar or St. Goarshausen and you want to cross the river, you must take a ferry. Well... there ARE bridges, supposedly, but at least 20-30km up and down river from these two river's edge towns.

The ferry cost 5 Euros for 2 people and a car, and took a total of maybe 5 minutes to cross.
