Spangdahlem Warnings and Dangers

Avoid using the word "Mushy". I can't even write what it means in German (I'd probably get kicked off of the site).

If you're from Britain and refer to mushy peas you'll get an even stranger reaction ; )

There really isn't much crime in the Eifel region. Your largest danger is driving on the roads. The roads here are steep and curvy. As you're cruising the backroads you're likely to (very suddenly) encounter:

1. Very large crows/buzzards, which us GI's refer to as "Eifel Chickens".

2. Some guy on a tractor the won't go over 20Kph on a 100Kph road. This is really entertaining when you consider that Germany doesn' t believe in shoulders on roads.

3. Encountering a herd of sheep, cows or goats on a blind curve at 100Kph is not uncommon. Guess who has the right of way!
