by globetrott The train takes about 90 minutes from Koblenz and there will be 1 train each hour, leaving 45 minutes after the full hour. There are no direct trains, but you will always have to change the train in Bullay. From Trier the train takes mostly around 75 minutes, they also offer 1 train per hour, always at 21 minutes after the full hour and you also have to change the train in Bullay. All of these trains will be in the ordinary train-system of germany - DBB, and you will have unlimited rides with interrail- eurail- and similar pre-paid train-tickets ! Leave a Comment

Hahn-airport just 500 meters ahead by globetrott Frankfurt/Hahn is an airport I always list under "Warnings and Danger" or "Tourist-traps" for most of the places in Germany. People have the feeling its close to Frankfurt am Main, BUT IT IS NOT !! BUT it is just 10 km from Traben-Trarbach, so it is the absolutely perfect airport, when you want to explore Traben-Trarbach and the Mosel- or even the Rhine-valley !! ---------------------------------- Once upon a time there was a small airport called Hahn - it was situated south of Traben-Trarbach and saw only just small planes....What a boring life, while "big brothers" like the one in Frankfurt am Main saw Jumbo-Jets galore...So one day a clever manager had the idea to ask Ryanair to fly to Hahn and call the airport Frankfurt/Hahn, although the real Frankfurt am Main is in a distance of about 150 km on small roads, and it will take 2-3 hours by car !! see a map of Germany with all airports in order to calculate the distance !! Prepare your trip carefully: www.moselhotel.com - Hotels close to Hahn airport! Leave a Comment

I was here by car but noticed the trainstation. Schedules can be found at the link below. The Tourist Information is almost next to the station so it's easy to find your way around after you arrive. When you arrive, you walk across the parking lot towards the Tourist Information center. I do mean the parking lot in the 2nd photo in this tip. I do NOT mean the parking lot between the two supermarkets next to the station! Leave a Comment

Docking in front of hotel Bellevue by ATLC The Mosel is very busy with sightseeing boats. There is a boat stop right in front of the Bellevue hotel and another on the other side of the river. The schedules are frequent. It takes about 2.5 hours to sail to Bernkastel-Kues, another very popular Mosel town. Each Mosel town actually has a boat stop or two (often on both sides of the river). You can buy tickets on the spot. Departures from Traben-Trarbach to Bernkastel-Hues daily: 10 hrs, 11.15 hrs. 13.30 hrs. 15 hrs, 17 hrs. It takes about 2 hrs for the trip. However, it may happen that you may get delayed when the locks at Zeltingen are unlucky. Leave a Comment

Mosel River at Traben-Trarbach by Ewingjr98 If you have a car, the easiest way to get around these rural areas of Germany is to just drive. From the Autobahn A1/E44, take exit 125 and follow Route B50 south to the Mosel. Turn north (left) on B53 and follow the river to Traben-Trarbach. You can also reach Traben-Trarbach by train from either Koblenz or Trier (and beyond). Finally, as you can see in this photo, boats are always busy taking tourists up and down the river to the popular spots. This is certainly the most relaxing and scenic way to travel the Mosel! There are ships which make little tours on the Mosel. If you hike from berkastel to Traben Trarbach, you can e.g. go back by ship. We had not so much time, so we went home by car. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Coming from London, we find the best and cheapest way to get to Traben-Trarbach is to book a flight through www.ryanair.com. The flights can be really cheap! We flew in early December 2006 and we managed to get return flights from stansted to Traben-Trarbach for £13 return trip each. Once you land at Frankfurt Hahn, you can either take a shuttle bus that operates every 2 hours or catch a taxi. We paid €27.50 and it took 5 of us 15-20mins to get to Traben-Trarbach. One warning though. If you catch a cab from T-T to Hahn, be careful - it cost us €47.50. I am not sure why this is. You also have the option to hire a car from Hahn for 4 days for around €100. This is really worth it because you can explore the mosel valley more so. Theme: Airplane

by yumalation I found this lovely village with a help of Ryanair. I was wondering where exactly is the Frankfurt-Hahn airport. Many people say that this airport is far from everything. I say it's located right in the middle of everything. It is also a compact airport and also easy to find. It is easy to rent (and also return) a car in Hahn so I'm pretty sure I'm going to use Hahn airport again. Taxi from Hahn to Traben cost 31 euros for the trip. The driver estimated the price up to 33 euros which proves that taxi drivers here are no cheaters. Leave a Comment
