Judengasse by Helga67 Coming from the Porta Nigra and just before you reach the main market there is a lovely small alley on your right hand side called Judengasse (Jews' alley). It is nice to walk through it. The alley leads into the former medieval Jewish Quarter. Nowadays the Jewish community is quite small in Trier. Leave a Comment

what a screwed up photo by sargentjeff We walked around the city quite a bit to find this place, and with the help of the map which I lost finally found it. Karl Marx was born in Trier, which at that time (May 5, 1818) had fewer than 10,000 inhabitants. Leave a Comment

My favourite place in Trier was the Market Place. It's a beautiful square with wonderful houses, a beautiful fountain and the Church of St. Gangolph dominating the south front. Leave a Comment

Ruines of the old Roman baths "Thermae" by Pavlik_NL See the Roman buildings and remainders of that time. Trier has many, but the highlights are the Amphy-theatre, the Thermae and the Porta Nigra. Leave a Comment

Trier by Gili_S Trier is one of the oldest cities of Germany. I spent here half a day and it was very nice. Main attraction is of course the old city. Check the city official site at also in English: www.trier.de Leave a Comment

I would see Porta Nigra. We came off-season so there were no boat trips but a trip along the Moselle is something I will definately do next time. Also, if you're there in season, go wine tasting in the villages.
All of it! From taxi drivers to restaurant staff, everyone was very friendly. Leave a Comment

by houba Go to the Porta Nigra A Roman port from the second century. It is the only big part of the wall surrounding the ancient city wich has survived. Another part is the Arena /amphitheatre, which was admitted in the later build wall, and wich was also used as a port to the city Leave a Comment
