The Eifel mountains are housing lovely little towns like Bitburg, Daun, Gerolstadt, Mayen, Monschau, Pruem, Bad Muenstereifel, Schleiden-Gemuend. These are overwhelmingly small villages and hamlets which characterise the Eifel landscape.
Bitburg, which was called Beda in celtic times, is located in the southern Eifel. It was part of the Roman protectorate until 400 A.D. Later the settlement was taken over by the Franconians and in 1262 it was given its own charter. In the early Middleages, Bitburg belonged to the earldom of Luxemburg, which became a dukedom in 1354.
Now, Bitburg with its 14 000 inhabitants is yet a modern town, known for its Bitburg Beer and for the European Festival of Folklore (taking place second weekend in July). This event ranks as the largest German festival of folklore, and turns annually Bitburg into a meeting point of nations.

Take time today to remember and recognize contributions US Air Force has made..Also take time to remember the sacrifices that Airmen and their families have made to found the freedoms that we enjoy today.
When sitting in the garden and relaxing, a butterfly came and chose my daughter's feet as a wonderful place to relax himself.
My father keeps some bees. So if you see that little house with my father somewhere around, just say hello to him. I'm sure he will explain you all about his bees.
