Though this pales in comparison to a great Bavarian beer garden and is perhaps not as authentic as Brauhaus am Waldschlossen just up river, you can’t argue with its scenic setting nor its great prices considering its location. The bench seating could use some shady chestnut trees rather than unnatural umbrella covering but you are looking across the Elbe at the Dresden skyline so one can’t complain.
Favorite Dish: Food is quite good and reasonably priced with many German standbys served in a canteen fashion much like their Bavarian counterparts. In fact, I'd say it is one of the better value places to eat in all of Dresden and the view is about as good as you'll find too. Oh and Radeberger Pils and Kusovice Dark on tap doesn't hurt, even available in one liter mugs!

It was about 2 in the afternoon and we were very hungry and walking on Münzgasse strasse we saw many restaurants to have lunch and we chose the austrailian restaurant ayers rock. We must to admit that we did not eat australian food but the one we ate was delightfull. The staff were very nice and the service very good.
Favorite Dish: We had the chicken salad and the vegetarian lasagne and it was delecious.

It's not too easy to find a good restaurant in busy Dresden on a Saturday night. We were already searching for quite a while and were sick of rude waitresses and nice ones shaking their heads with sympathies. Brauhaus Watzke, on the new town side of the river, was our last hope. We got their last table! From the outside this place doesn't look too inviting actually. But there were quite a few features which we enjoyed.
There was a piano player playing all night, he had a strange song collection but it was fun. I nearly choked on my chicken though when he started to play the Smurfs song ;)
The most spectacular feature of this restaurant, however, is the bell. Inside the restaurant there's one of the bells of Frauenkirche. It was made for the rebuilt church but then it had a small mistake in the sounds it makes so it was brought here. It rings every hour.
Favorite Dish: Shortly after the wall came down a guy from East Germany told me that a "Goldbroiler" (the Eastern term for a cooked chicken) is nowhere near a standard "west chicken" when it comes to size and quality. Back then I laughed. In Dresden - 16.5 years after the wall came down - I had my first gold broiler. And believe it or not, this guy was right. It was fantastic!!!

The Scheune Café is an outdoor beer garden in the new part of Dresden...a look that's completely German with a menu that's right out of India. It's part of the Scheune.org cultural center.
Favorite Dish: Find a table (easier said than done), then order drinks and dinner at the booth. Carry your drinks back and your dinner will be brought to you.

The Sophienkeller is probably the first tourist restaurant stop in Dresden - huge cellar restaurant with strolling minstrels and other characters out of the last few centuries. Although it's a kitch palace (called Dresden's most beautiful vaulted restaurant), the food is actually very good.

This restaurant just happened to be down the street from where we were staying, so we decided to drop in before some sightseeing. The waitress suggested I order schnitzel, which I did, and which was delicious! Cozy, comfortable outdoor seating and good German beer too!
Favorite Dish: Try the schnitzel for an authentic German experience.

I don't remember the name of the restaurant. I can say that the building has a name "Italian house" because of workers from Italy lived in the square when the Cathedral was built. The house has a cafe and a restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Goulash

If you want to impress your girlfriend, have a romantic dinner with your wife or just give yourself a special treat, this one is right for you!
The only Hotel rated as luxury class in Dresden (the Hilton for example just get´s first class...) i thought the prices would be astronomical. But I was surprised, actualy it is very affordable for a special occasion.
For a 6 course meal you pay 56€. Not realy something a budget traveller can afford every day but trust me it´s worth it!
Remember this is very high class and so men should wear at least a black trouser and a polo shirt.
