Cafe Riquet enjoys an excellent reputation as a coffeehouse. It looks back on long tradition. The ambience is nice, with Art Nouveau decoration on the ground floor.
The staff was a little inattentive, just average. We were a bit unlucky that the ordered cake was not available anymore.
Favorite Dish: My tea was fair, but not worth a recommendation. They serve a lot of different sorts of coffee, and I also heard that "Schwarzwälder" tart was delicious.
Another great old-fashioned coffee house in downtown Leipzig. Extremely beautiful outside with the famous elephants at the entrance and two floors of cosy tables inside.
Sometimes they have cabaret shows on the first floor.
Staff could be friendlier but the coffee was great.
Typical and historical cafe downtown Leipzig. It's reported the exotic decorations testifies of a good relationship between Leipzig & Far East traders.
Favorite Dish: Good cakes (but my best for this week are still in Bad Steben !).
Check "sahne", in this laender it's sweet, in others not so much.
Have a coffee or tea at the Cafe Riquet, a lovely corner buiding with fanciful Oriental decorations inside and out. Every now and then you can listen to live piano music in the first floor.
Favorite Dish: Try the Tea! Delicious!
The classic Riquet Coffeehouse is visually the most stunning as the building has beautiful art noveau-features and two elephant-head sculptures guard the entrance. Their coffee & cakes are not bad either ! A good place to try the "Leipziger Lerche", a local pastry specialty.
Excellentes cakes in a lovely 100 years old house. They serve not only cakes and desserts but also German menues.
