Leipzig railway station is biggest in Germany. It connects railways of east and west, so you can get almost anywhere from Leipzig with train.
The railway station is also a huge shopping centre, and there are also some fast food restaurants (pasta, chinese, hamburgers,...).
I recommend warmly Aldi's super market, which is downstairs. We were just laughing at the low prices, maybe because everything is so damn expensive here in Finland. Leave a Comment Address: Well, it is the centre of Leipzig.

One of the fine historic sites in Leipzig is the home of the great composer Felix Mendelssohn. There is splendid commentary on his life in each room, and one may rent an audio tour, as well. Among the various treasures on display is his manuscript of the famous aria "Hear Ye, Israel" from his oratorio Elijah.
I found this very moving, as I have accompanied sopranos performing this aria on the organ or piano many times in my life. There is also an excellent gift shop for souvenirs. Leave a Comment

The Bavarian Railway Station in Leipzig is the oldest railway terminus in the world. It was opened in September 1844, then linking the kingdoms of Saxony and Bavaria. Now it stands as a monument to a grand age.
Its location is South of the city centre towards the Battle of Nations monument. Maps can be found in the Tourist info centre opposite the main railway station. Leave a Comment
