There are very good train connections between Dresden and Meissen, leaving every half hour and taking 40 minutes for the journey. With a car, it's easier to access more of the sights just around the city. If you do drive, leave your car in the parking lot just outside the old town, by the river. The streets are narrow and the most enjoyable thing is walking around it anyway. These cars parked up in the Albrechtsburg must have special parking decals. ;)

We took the tram/regional train from and to Dresden and walked most of the way.
There is a small shuttle bus that we jumped on to take us from the manufacture to the Albrechtsburg - rather expensive, but a nice treat for my feet !

We took the train/tram from Dresden - a very comfortable way of travelling. Trains go at least once an hour to and from Dresden, so there is no long waiting time necessary.

So, it's really easy to get there.
If you are taking A4: exit Siebenlehn and continue on B 101 or exit Wilsdruff (greater Dresden area).
If you are taking A13: exit Radeburg.
If you are taking A14: Exit Nossen-Ost
From Dresden direction: on the B6
