    The Dom church is about the only Magdeburg building that wasn't shot during the war, so for that reason alone it's worth a visit.
    Besides that, they do have nice Otto von Guericke scientific stuff exposed.

    The Staatskanzlei (State Office) is located at Domplatz 7. It was built as a residential building in baroque style for the local vintner Christian Winneberg between 1724-1728 . The Domdechanei was erected in the years 1728-31 as imperial boarding house. Next to it is the Domherrenkurie (curia of the prebendary), built as Palais in 1732 für for Dr. Christian Knaut.

    Now, lets start our visit here at the old German Borderline. Many Years ago it was horrible to enter the former DDR, you must wait a long time here at these stations, they take a look inside your car and so on.....
    Today they make a museum of these 'Border'.It was really interesting.
    And if you are on the way to Berlin, please make a break and take a look!!!

    Just like in Wien, there is public area to the Hundertwasserhaus complex with a fountain and more colourful columns. Around the courtyard are various shops and cafes.

    The city gate at Domplatz 1 is the last remaining city gate of the city and the only proof that the city once had a city wall. It was constructed in 1493.

    When you have good weather conditions you should take a walk along the Fürstenwall. From here you have a wonderful view on the city gate and the backside of the cathedral.

    At Möllenvogtei next to the city gate you can see the oldest garden of Magdeburg. It was first mentioned in 1377 and belonged to the archbishop.

    Saxony-Anhalt's State Government is situated at Domplatz 8 in front of the cathedral. The architect Hans Georg Reinicke built this Baroque residential building between 1724 and 1725.

    Unser Lieben Frauen (Abbey of Our Lady)

    The Abbey of Our Lady was founded 1017/18 by the archbishop Gero, and rebuilt from 1063 to 1078. In 1597 Staint Norbert had been buried here before he was relocated to Prague in 1626.

    Climbing up the stairs behind the city gate you reach the Fürstenwall, the remaining of the old city wall. Today you find a promenade on it.

    The only problem: It's written just in German.
