Favorite thing: I subscribe to many different magazines and this one is a tip from National Geographic Traveler:
Free Ride Sandeman's New Europe tours offer free (well, guides accept tips) walking and biking tours of Amsterdam and Berlin. English speaking guides joke, dish out advice, and tell historical anecdotes all along the way.

Here you will view crosses that were placed in memory of the Berliners who at one time tried to escape from the East to the West of Berlin. However, we were just advised by a Berliner that these crosses representing the victims no longer exists and were recently removed some few weeks ago as the lease for this plot of land had expired.
Fondest memory: This particular page we would never consider it fondest memory, it certainly is a very and extremely very sad memory, (regardless of ones nationality, when you read the details and see the faces of these poor victims it makes you very sad and even cry...)as these is the exact location where the Eastern Berliners were killed, shot, hung, cruel slow death... when they tried to escape and jumped over the fence going to the West of Berlin.

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Berlin is being able to hang out with good friends. It is great to get the opportunity to hang out with people that you can share these experiences with It great fun to be able to hang out with great "brothers" no matter where you are in the world. I wish them the best!
