One of the most fascinating aspects of the Northsea as it is encountered in Büsum, are the tides. When the tide is low you can go very far out, and if it was not for the dugout sailingpassage you could go on for several kilometers. Going out for a stroll on this sand is a pleasent experience, and you can find lots of crabs and seashells.

Büsums harbour is divided into two parts. One is the tourist part with some smaller boats and floating restaurants. The other is the commercial harbour with coast guard boats and several ferries servicing the Büsum-Helgoland route.

The beach in Büsum is a private one and during the daytime it costs €1-2 to use it. The slopes are covered in grass, giving more comfort to lay on than on sand. Furthermore it is possible to rent a small shack for an entire day.

The inner part of Büsum is composed of pedastrian zones and zones with one-way streets with limited traffic. There are a great deal of stores selling icecream and various kinds of souvenirs, some bars, restaurants and café's and furthermore a fairly large variety of more specialized stores dealing in eg. books.
Allestrasse is the mayor pedestrian road in town leading more or less from the trainstation to the stormdikes and to the recreational waterressort located at the end of the road.

Büsum is only train-connected to the city of Heide. During daytime there are trains every hour, in the evernings these are reduced to once every couple of hours.
The train station in Büsum is a small house with a ticket office and a vendor, besides this there really is not much to say about it.

Located on the beach in Büsum there is a windsurfing beach and test area surrounded by an artificial sand reef.
