The New Years Run is a nice, healthy way to start the new year!
Should you have made any New Years resolution about ... perhaps ... beginning ... with some jogging ...,
this is the place to start!
It is just for the fun of it, ... with no time taking !
The offered distances are between
2.5km for those who just want to try it out,
10km for more experienced runners who want to work off some of the seasonal calories ;-) .
After the run there is a small buffet with a very tasty hot fruit juice (no alc) punch.
Equipment: Don't forget your running shoes and clothes suitable for winter running (warm jogging suit or so).
The Foerderlauf (kind of charity run) is a very popular event in May. The starter fee is donated to an association that funds and improves special facilities at the hospital an Wedel.
There are different distances, from 2.5km for smaller children and families to a 21.1km half marathon along the meadows and dykes.
You can also start in the nordic walking category.
And parallel to the running event there also is a guided hiking tour of 15km.
When you are here at that time in May, don't miss it! It is a nice, family type of event and is officially registered as Volkslauf event.
It has professional time measurement.
Equipment: Just don't forget your running or walking shoes (and for nordic walking the sticks) when you are packing for a trip to Wedel.
Around Wedel there are great opportunities for running. Actually you often will see some joggers, when you will be out for a walk, either along the Elbe river or through the pastures or the nearby forest.
