Racing track - Horse riding, Boxberg

Everything began in 1878 with the foundation of the Medium German racing association Gotha. The racing area is on a former ex-ornamental place of the army of the dukedom Coburg-Gotha. Duke Ernst II still in the foundation year of the racing association the area as present to them. Shortly after the first racing day already started. During the next years the area was reconstructed. First the splendid rostrum originated in the Victorian style. The racecourse was built for level running and steeplechase. Already before the 1-st world war the period of bloom of the box mountain began. If you want riding you can find there some possibilities. Also the "Reiterhof" rent horses. For that please have a look to restaurant tip "Thüringer Waldblick". Also trainee on the places of horse riding club you can do.

Winter sports and Oberhof - one name with international reputation. Skiing,luge, bob on Rennsteig and the region around Oberhof, names of skiing villages like Schmiedefeld, Schmuecke, to the highest mountain of Thuringia (Beerberg), a great event.Fantastic cross-country ski tracks are worth to spent a day... or more. An area that is assured of snow! Learning skiing is not so easy there because the ski schools are mostly fully booked. You will meet many people there from all over the world.Best time is in the week. On weekend you find often no free parking places for many kilometers belong roads.

There are many places in Thueringen, where you can do winter sports. I was fascinated by Oberhof. We are sure to go back there to visit the championships there in ski jumping or biathlon.

Fishing near Finsterbergen

Close to Finsterbergen you find a little lake named Brandleiteteich. Romantic walking to and around and nice hours with fishing sport there recommended. Season from May till October.
