Thüringen-Ticket

A very cheap ticket of Deutsche Bahn is the "Thüringen-Ticket". Ask for this at the counter. You can travel around the states Thüringen (Thuringia), Sachsen (Saxonia) und Sachsen-Anhalt by regional-train in the 2nd class for one day with 5 peoples so much you like. It cost about 21 or 25 Euro, it is nit much for 5 People. You can use trains after 9 am to 3 am onthe following day. It's a good thing for town-hopping. A excample, you starts in Erfurt to go to Weimar and later to Leipzig or Dresden. Is not for ICE or Intercity-Train, but the Regional-Express-Trains are also really fast.Others States have similar tickets.

Thueringen-Card might make sense for you !

Thueringen-Card is a way to save some money in the area of Eisenach, Weimar and the rest of the county and you will get free entrance to a total of 200 museums, exhibitions, palaces and castles, parks and even swimming-pools and other recreation-areas.This card is also a train-ticket for a circle of 50km from your hotel and includes the trams and buses in the city of Erfurt.A MARCO-POLO-Reiseführer / travelguide-booklet is also included (in german only) and it will show you all infos about the places you may visit.24h cards are 14,- p.p. / 9,00 for children 3 day-cards are 33,00 / 20,00 euros6-day-cards are 53,00 / 31,00 eurosthese 3 or 6 days you can choose yourself ,NO need to be consecutive days !!!--------------------------------------------more infos here in german---unfortunately the english version does not explain Thuerigen-Card,but at least the sights and a lot more !

How to reach our country

We are in the center of Germany. If you want do a trip to us you could take that ways:At first of course by airplane. Airports are in Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg, Dresden, Frankfurt/Main or in our Thuringian capital Erfurt. So via Erfurt you are directly arrived in Thuringia. But it´s a smaller airport. From the bigger airports you can take the autobahn. These are the A4 or A9. The A4 is from Dresden to Frankfurt/Main. The A9 from Berlin to Munich (via Leipzig). Also openend now is the A71, our Thuringian autobahn from Schweinfurt to Erfurt. So all places of our country are easy reachable by car.You need three hours from Berlin or three hours from Munich, similarly from Frankfurt/Main. The biggest autobahn crossroad is in Hermsdorf. That´s also the crossing of A4 and A9. Also by train it isn´t difficult to reach the bigger towns. But I want not recommend that way. Most trains are...

Wartburg and Trabbi are the cars, people used some years ago. I never drove such a car, would really like to do it. Eisenach is the place, where the Wartburg cars where built. You can still see some of them when travelling in Thueringen.
